2014 Spring Drive

           The Brits woke up to a cloudy, rainy, Saturday morning on May 17th for our 2014 Spring Drive to Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana. It was 40 degrees at 9:00 in the morning. By the 11:00 meeting time, the sun shone through the clouds.

Seven LBC’s made the trip. One by one the Brits arrived at the Kohl’s parking lot in South Bend. Dave Terhune was the one brave sole that drove with his top down. We visited with each other for a little while and then embarked on our journey to Culver. Tom and Debbie Shumaker led the way on the beautiful but chilly morning. It was nice to see that spring had finally come and the trees and flowers were blooming.

We arrived in Culver - a very busy town. The Culver Academies were having some kind of alumni celebration so the town was buzzing with activity. We parked our cars and ate lunch at the Lakehouse Grill.

We were seated in a private room with rustic and neon signs. The food was delicious and the service was good. After eating, some of the group decided to leave. A few members walked next door to The Culver Coffee Company to get a cup of gourmet coffee for the road. It was tasty to say the least!
