Fall Colors Drive 2018

By Mary Petersen

The final drive for the Michiana Brits this year was held on Saturday, October 20. Weather for that day was forecasted to be chilly and rainy and windy with some sun in the afternoon. The weatherman was not too far off.
The drive started at Bev and Randy Glanders’ house in Elkhart. The Brits arrived by 9:30 am with their potluck dish. At 10:00 am, the drive started through the colorful backroads of Indiana and Southwestern Michigan.

Right around 11:30 we stopped for a relaxing lunch at the Fisher Lake Inn in Mendon, Michigan. It is a favorite spot to eat on our Colors Drive. While eating lunch, there was a terrific downpour on the lake. Luckily the LBC’s had the tops up. After a delicious lunch we were on our way again.

As we were driving the wind started blowing harder and harder. We ran into at least two roads blocked by downed trees. Below is a photo of one of those.

After having to detour for the second time, it was decided that we probably should head back to the Glanders’ house for the potluck dinner.

When we arrived at our destination, we ate a hearty dinner of chili with all the fixings and many, many side dishes and desserts.

Watching college football games and socializing with club members was enjoyable. Despite the weather we all had a great time!

Thank you Bev and Randy Glanders for once again hosting the Fall Colors Drive.
