2013 Fall Colors Drive
by Mary Petersen

The Fall Colors Drive began at Randy & Bev Glanders home on the west side of Elkhart, IN. This year's drive, along the always popular route, was altered so we could drive the route in reverse. Thus, the first stop, instead of next to last, was Bonneyville Mill.

The weather was still a little damp and rainy when we arrived at Bonneyville Mill. The trees there were beautiful as were the dahlias in the garden.

As we left Bristol, the rain looked as though it might let up. There were two detours, one which involved the Langley Covered Bridge. As much as we love crossing that bridge, it was not to happen this year.

The foliage was still beautiful as we made our way to the Fisher Lake Inn for lunch. Dave Terhune joined us there as the group talked about the Winona Show and their cars. Lunch was delicious, as usual.

As we made our way back to the Glanders’ house, the sun began to peak out which made the fall colors seem all the more gorgeous.

As the LBC’s pulled into the Glanders’ drive, other members arrived so there were many more members of the Brits for the potluck dinner.
While the Brits watched football and visited with one another, the food was being served in the dining room. There was an abundance of food: chili, soups, dips, pasta, many different desserts and of course, plenty of drinks.

Even though it was a cold and rainy drive (typical British weather!), the Brits still joined together to enjoy each other’s company. It’s nice to have such good friends to share a dreary Saturday. Thank you, Bev and Randy for planning the tour and again opening your home to us.
